Believing in the Prayer

In a small town, a man decided to open a bar right across from a temple. This did not sit well with the temple community, who began a daily campaign of petitions and prayers, hoping to prevent the bar from opening.

Despite their efforts, the bar's construction continued. But just days before the grand opening, a lightning strike hit the bar, burning it to the ground. The temple members were quietly pleased, believing their prayers had been answered.

However, things took an unexpected turn when the bar owner sued the temple, claiming that their prayers were responsible for the bar’s destruction, either directly or indirectly. In response, the temple denied any involvement, insisting that their prayers had nothing to do with the unfortunate event.

As the case went to court, the judge, reading through the arguments, made a wry observation:

"I don't know how I'm going to decide this case, but it appears from the paperwork, we have a bar owner who believes in the Power of Prayer and we have an entire temple and its devotees that doesn't."
